I just met MC Hammer. I’m not kidding. He came to Austin for the inauguration of our College President and the celebration of our College’s Charter Day today. Apparently, he’s donating money to a new dance/music program at the school. And I just met him. Weird. I used to detest his music and his skinny-black-man ego. But you know what? He’s an amazingly nice man in person. Also in attendence at the inauguration were Texas Governor Rick Perry and Austin Mayor Kirk Watson. It was a star-studded affair! Well, okay, maybe just a star scattered affair. Okay, okay … so it was really only a “Hey, I think that’s MC Hammer over there” kind of affair. If only I’d brought my autograph book!
