Wow.

Your humble host has been recognized by two different institutions in the last few days. First, the wonderfully kind and inspiringly resourceful Jessamyn has quoted me over at librarian.net. It appears she shares my views on corporate publishering. Warning, if the “F” word gets your panties in a ruffle (and not in a nice way) don’t go there. I was angry the day I posted that Metafilter comment and so I let it all spill out. How professional, you say? I know. I just ooze professionalism, don’t I?

Also, the lovely Kerowyn has made me Blog of the Day over at blogoftheday.blogspot.com. Wow again! This is the first time I’ve ever been nominated for anything that I didn’t have to bribe someone to win. There’s even a comments section for each post, which means those of you who hate my blog (yet can’t seem to stop reading–I’m wicked addictive that way) can go flame me. Yay! And be sure to use the “F” word liberally when flaming me. It makes you sound smarter. Believe me, I speak from experience. (Actually, don’t … blogoftheday.blogspot.com is a fine, upstanding site. I’d hate for it to be sullied with foul language on my account.)

In completely unrelated news, the database I wrote about yesterday failed. Actually, that’s misleading. Everything works. I got it to post multiple days, multiple entries within a day, and individual permalinked entries. I got the export Applescripts to work, and I got the droplets that upload the files to the server to work. All of this functioned smoothly at the click of a single button.

The problem was the format in which FileMaker Pro exported the records. Tab-Separated Text. Instead of recognizing the stylistic necessity of hard returns (denoted with the symbol
