Ahh, workday is over. Now waiting for my lovely family to come pick me up. Just thought I’d piddle around for a minute or two.
Hey! Guess what? I emailed Lee K. Abbott a few days ago. You know I publish a ‘zine called Catch, right? Sure you do. Anyway, I’ve got two volumes in print so far, and both volumes have featured a Foreword by a famous, published writer. The first was Chris Offutt and the second was Walter Jon Williams. Well, moving into volume 3, I contacted Lee. (This was a good two-and-a-half years ago.) He delivered a fantastic Foreword describing in his great style what it was like to get published for the first time. A few months later I moved to Austin. I told myself I would get to work on it pronto.
Well, I kept putting it off. The thought of how much money it could cost to publish something that hasn’t turned a profit yet kept me procrastinating.
Then I started thinking: It’s free to publish on the web. So I wrote to Lee and asked him for permission to publish his Foreword in what might be Catch’s new electronic format. He loved the idea. And so now I’m stoked. Gotta put the word the to streets! Watch this space for details and the upcoming call for submissions.
